Downtown Erie Walking Routes
from Highmark® - 717 State Street
 
Route 1: A Good Hill (About 20 minutes or 1 mile)
  1. Follow State Street north to the Bayfront Parkway
  2. Turn around and walk back to Highmark
  3. Round trip is ONE MILE
Route 2: A Better Hill (About 30 minutes or 1.6 miles)
  1. Follow Route 1, but instead of turning back at the Bayfront intersection, continue through the intersection to the end of Dobbins Landing
  2. Turn around and walk back to Highmark
  3. Round trip is a more strenuous 1.6 MILES
Route 3: Flat Land (About 20 minutes or 1 mile)
  1. Follow State Street south to 14th Street
  2. Turn around and walk back to Highmark
  3. Round trip is ONE MILE
Route 4: Lots of Flat Land (About 40 minutes or 2 miles)
  1. Follow Route 3, but instead of turning back at 14th Street, continue walking and turn around at 23rd Street
  2. Round trip is TWO MILES
Route 5: A Walk in the Park (About 10 minutes or 1/2 mile)
  1. Follow State Street north, then make a right onto North Park Row
  2. Follow the perimeter of the park, crossing back over State Street to loop both the east and west sides of the park
  3. Take a right back onto State Street and follow back up to Highmark
  4. Round trip is 1/2 MILE
 
One Mile Walking Routes
from Hamot - 201 State Street
 
Route 1:
  • Going North - from 3rd and State St. to Dobbins Landing around the walkway and back to 3rd St.
Route 2:
  • Going West - from Second and State over Second St. to Walnut St. and back to Second and State (Option to come back over Front St.)
Route 3:
  • Going South - from Second and State, up to 9th Street and back to Second.
Route 4:
  • Going East - from the Emergency Dept entrance over Second Street to Wallace and back to the ED.
Route 5:
  • Scenic Route - from the Emergency Dept entrance east on Second Street, turning left on Holland and going North to the Intermodal Center, to the Cruise Ship Building, around the parking lot and behind the Intermodal Center back South up the hill to Second and Holland, turn right onto Second and back to the ED entrance. We suggest stretching after the hill.
Route 6:
  • Beginning at Second and French, going South on French, around Perry Square and back down French to Second Street.
Route 7:
  • Four times around the block at 300 State Street. NO CUTTING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT!!
